Kingston Technology Enhances Channel Strategy for 2007
New Regional Focus Broadens Kingston’s Business in Australia, New Zealand
Sydney, Australia – 31 January 2007 — Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent
world leader in memory products, today announced that it has appointed Synnex New Zealand as its new national
distributor.
Effective March 1, 2007, the new distribution agreement will allow Kingston to capitalise
on Synnex’s strong track record of providing specialist support for local system builders
around the world. This agreement foresees Kingston implementing a dual-distributor
model in New Zealand with Synnex joining existing distributor Ingram Micro.
Synnex is a global IT supply chain service company offering a range of programs to
original equipment manufacturers, software publishers and reseller customers. Synnex
offers product distribution, related logistics services, demand generation marketing and
contract assembly. They also work with suppliers of IT systems, peripherals, system
components, software and networking equipment. As one of Kingston’s global strategic
partners, Kingston has been working closely with Synnex in Australia, China, Hong
Kong, Thailand and Taiwan.
“We are enthusiastic to introduce Synnex to our New Zealand channel to grow our
business by leveraging their core capabilities,” said Scott Chen, vice president, APAC
Business Development, Kingston. “Ingram Micro New Zealand is an outstanding partner
for Kingston and has significantly helped our business grow over the last three years.
We view the appointment of Synnex as complementary to Ingram Micro as reflected in
other countries,” added Chen.
“Kingston is a brand that I have had a very close association with for many years, in fact,
they were the first brand that I represented as a Product Manager. Synnex believes the
memory market will rapidly increase over the course of the year with the introduction of
Vista. Our appointment will ensure that Kingston has a deep and wide range of stock held
locally to capitalize on the opportunity,” said Richard Harri, country manager, Synnex
New Zealand Ltd.
In support of its commitment to the region, Kingston has appointed Vaughan Nankivell,
as regional manager for Australia and New Zealand, effective February 15. A 17-year
industry veteran, Mr. Nankivell previously oversaw Kingston’s business relationship with
distributor Ingram Micro New Zealand. In his new role, Mr. Nankivell will report to Scott
Chen, vice president for Kingston APAC Business Department.
"We’re excited to have Vaughan join the team and head our business in both Australia and
New Zealand,” said Scott Chen. “Vaughan has been instrumental in developing and
growing our business in New Zealand and brings a wealth of distribution and reseller
experience gained in the United States, Australia and New Zealand marketplaces,”
continued Chen.
Founded in 1987 with a single product offering, Kingston Technology now offers more
than 2,000 memory products that support nearly every device that uses memory, from
computers, servers and printers to MP3 players, digital cameras and mobile phones. In
2005, the company's sales exceeded $3.0 billion. As the leading memory product
manufacturer, Kingston’s product lineup includes proprietary, ValueRAM and HyperX
memory modules as well as an extensive line of Flash products.
