Kingston Technology speeds up the World Cyber Games
Sponsors Australian arm of huge global gaming championships
Sydney, Australia – 15 June 2007 – Kingston Technology, the world leader in memory products, has announced
its sponsorship of the Australian arm of The World Cyber Games (WCG) tournament, a massive global gaming
extravaganza.
Over one million people will compete this year for the title of World Cyber Games Champion 2007 National Champions
in their respective countries, making WCG the world’s largest video game tournaments.
Beginning in 2000, the WCG is held annually and is the only single cyber game competition encompassing six
continents. This year around 70 countries worldwide will compete in this global event which adopts the same
Host City concept as the Olympic Games.
Australia’s national finalists will be determined by the state based qualifiers (NSW, VIC, SA, WA, and QLD),
culminating in a national final event which will be held at Luna Park in Sydney on August 25 and 26. Seven
winners of the National Final in Australia will be flown to the Grand Final in Seattle, USA. Australian
finalists will compete against 700 of the world’s best gamers from the six competing continents. The WCG
2007 Grand Final will be held from October 3rd to 7th, 2007 at Seattle’s Quest Field Stadium.
Australians will battle it out in the PC games Counter Strike 1.6 and WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, and the
Xbox 360 console game Dead or Alive: 4.
Kingston’s fastest memory module, the HyperX DDR2 1200MHz, will be provided in each competition computer at the
Australian national finals.
“Speed is one of the most important factors in gaming. During competition a millisecond can mean the difference
between winning and losing,” said Vaughan Nankivell, regional manager, Australia and New Zealand, Kingston.
“Kingston’s high performance DDR2 memory modules, HyperX and hi-speed ValueRAM produce the fastest memory possible
for gaming enthusiasts,” said Nankivell.
Kingston’s DDR2 1200MHz HyperX memory modules are the fastest performing memory available that provide speed and
performance gamers need. The DDR2 1200MHz HyperX is shipping in 512MB and 1GB modules as well as 1- and 2GB
memory kits. Kingston memory comes with a lifetime warranty and free technical support.
