What type of computers or devices are these mSATA drives used with?
The mini SATA (mSATA) drives are used primarily in notebooks to be used as a dedicated drive for Intel’s Smart Response Technology.
These computers must have a mSATA socket specifically for this (see image below).
Be aware that you can use the Smart Response Technology without using this mSATA drive.
However, systems with this dedicated socket allow you to use this technology without having to reconfigure or use space on your primary SSD boot drive.
It may also be used as the primary boot drive for some ultra slim netbooks and tablets.
