In 1957 Robert Pallman opened a small jewelry store. It was a time when catalog shopping was gaining popularity and along with mail order shopping, Robert Pallman also saw the opportunity to provide his local community in Indianapolis, Indiana with a knowledgeable resource for buying photography and video equipment. "Back in 1957 my father had a very basic business model that we follow today," says Bruce Pallman, Owner of Roberts Imaging. "He said ‘it's important to understand who your customer is and what their intended use of the product will be. Only then can you recommend and sell what is right for them.' That philosophy remains true at Roberts Imaging today. Growth can be achieved with hard work, honest and knowledgeable employees and fair pricing," added Pallman. "My father taught me that."

The same integrity that has made Roberts Imaging a successful business for almost 50 years is exactly what they look for in their retail and manufacturing partnerships. In today's business world, it's hard to imagine that a good product at a fair price can be the key to success but Bruce Pallman believes that the integrity has to go beyond the boundaries of his stores to make his business work.

"We look for the same integrity in our manufacturing partners as we do with our employees," says Pallman. Ultimately, a bad experience with a product will reflect poorly on our brand, which is why we are selective about what we sell."

This is precisely why Pallman and Roberts Imaging began a dialogue with Kingston Technology. "At first, we didn't think we needed another line of memory products," Pallman recalls. "But Kingston put together a program that worked well with our other product lines and we knew that ultimately it would translate into even more satisfied customers which is always our goal.

With manufacturer's mail-in rebates being a part of the norm at retail today, Pallman was genuinely excited to see that Kingston was offering very competitive prices right off the shelf without his customers having to jump through hoops to get a rebate. "Kingston offers a very competitive price for their products without a rebate," says Pallman. "They offer a very good solution for our customers at a price that is essentially the bottom line – no rebates. While this may seem like a small deal to some, to us it becomes a solution for customers who simply don't want to fill out additional paperwork."

"We carry Kingston's complete line, top to bottom," explains Pallman. "Our philosophy at Roberts is that we don't cherry pick. If we see the value in working with a manufacturer, then we also see the value in featuring all that they do. In order for us to consider carrying a line of products, a substantial line is necessary to make it viable – for us and our customers."
