Kingston Flash Memory

Enhance your Vista system with Kingston.
Take full advantage of Windows Vista with a Kingston memory upgrade
and a DataTraveler USB Flash drive enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost.

Adding more memory to your system will increase productivity, and with Windows® Vista™, you get additional productivity tools — Windows SuperFetch™ and Windows ReadyBoost™.

Before Vista, background tasks such as scanning and automatic backups were done when the system thought they would cause the least disturbance. Now with Windows Vista, SuperFetch technology learns what applications you use most and prepares them by preloading them to memory.

Another benefit of Windows Vista is Windows ReadyBoost, which is used in conjunction with SuperFetch. While adding system memory is the best way to increase performance, Windows ReadyBoost allows you to utilize memory outside of system memory module upgrades. This feature is ideal for use in systems with limited memory expansion capabilities. For instance, if your notebook has a maximum memory capacity of 1GB installed, Windows ReadyBoost allows for usage of a Flash memory device, such as a Kingston® DataTraveler® ReadyFlash as a more responsive storage medium for ReadyBoost cache.

When a Flash memory device is connected to a Vista-based system, the AutoPlay dialog box will offer the option of using the device for ReadyBoost. However, the Flash memory device must meet both a performance and a capacity threshold in order for Vista to offer the option of using it for ReadyBoost.

Take full advantage of all the features that Windows Vista has to offer with a Kingston memory upgrade and a DataTraveler ReadyFlash USB Flash drive enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost. With DataTraveler ReadyFlash USB Flash drives, storing, carrying, and transferring data have never been easier. Take your work, music, or photos with you, wherever you go.

FAQ:

Q. What is ReadyBoost?
A. ReadyBoost is a Microsoft Windows Vista feature which may improve system performance by allowing a compatible USB drive to be configured with a ReadyBoost cache. This feature can improve performance in low-memory situations and it is especially useful on systems with limited memory expansion capabilities.

Q. What are the system and device requirements for ReadyBoost?
A. ReadyBoost requires a system installed with Microsoft Vista, a USB 2.0 port and a USB Flash drive enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost with at least 512MB of available space.

Q. Can I enable ReadyBoost with any Kingston DataTraveler?
A. No, Vista will only offer the option of using ReadyBoost on USB Flash drives that have met both a specific performance and a capacity threshold.

Q. Can I use more than one ReadyBoost enabled device at a time?
A. Windows Vista allows for only one device enabled for ReadyBoost at a time

Q. How much memory should I allocate for ReadyBoost?
A. If you have selected to use ReadyBoost, you can allocate the amount of space ReadyBoost will reserve for memory cache. Kingston recommends a 1:1 ratio between RAM and cache size. Thus, if your system has 1GB of RAM, you should have a 1GB ReadyBoost cache size.
