Rambus

Note: As with many technologies, the demand for Rambus Technology memory modules has peaked and is no longer a technology in high demand. DDR memory technology replaced RDRAM, and RDRAM is now legacy memory technology. Therefore, Kingston has discontinued the remaining part numbers that support Rambus. Kingston will continue to offer a warranty on those Rambus parts that have been sold, but will no longer be selling Rambus modules.

Rambus Module Kingston Technology Company collaborated with Intel® Corporation and Rambus Inc. as early as 1997 to facilitate the market introduction of the revolutionary Rambus® memory technology. Rambus memory chips are called RDRAMs (for Rambus DRAMs). Kingston is widely recognized as the leading manufacturer of RDRAM memory modules in the memory module industry.

Intel selected Rambus memory technology for selected high-end systems due to RDRAM's high memory bandwidth, which greatly benefits 3D games, multimedia and other applications processing large amounts of data.

Kingston, Rambus, and Intel engineers worked closely together to reduce the high-volume manufacturing and testing costs for RDRAM memory modules. Kingston and Intel co-developed a new RIMM module tester, which allowed Kingston to thoroughly test the state-of-the-art PC800 and later PC1066 RIMM modules. At the Intel Developer Conference, Kingston presented the results of a Kingston/Intel study of the proprietary tester's capabilities highlighting its high effectiveness and low-cost.
