Kingston Expands DataTraveler USB Flash Drive Product Line
Fountain Valley, CA -- (September 27, 2004), Kingston® Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced the expansion of its DataTraveler® USB 2.0 product line to better service the varying needs of USB customers. Kingston will add three versions to the product line: DataTraveler II, DataTraveler II Plus and DataTraveler Elite.

"Kingston entered the USB drive market in 2002 and the product has been immensely successful," said Mike Kuppinger, digital media product manager, Kingston. "As the USB standard continues to gain adoption in new market segments, Kingston decided the time was right to launch a trio of DataTravelers with enhanced features and functionality to best fit the needs of a diverse group of users."

DataTraveler II and DataTraveler II Plus

For advanced consumers and small to midsize business use, DataTraveler II and DataTraveler II Plus provide high-performance solutions. Performance benefits include Hi-Speed USB 2.0, pre-loaded SecureTraveler security software with private zones and password protection. Both are designed for power-users who need higher capacities and faster data transfer. The DataTraveler II has a data transfer rate of up to 11 MB/sec. read; 7 MB/sec. write speed, while the DataTraveler II Plus is fastest in its class with a data transfer rate of up to 19 MB/sec. read; 13 MB/sec. write speed.

DataTraveler Elite

Designed for premium performance and safeguarding data for IT, corporate and government organizations, DataTraveler Elite features Hi-Speed USB 2.0, advanced security and ease of use utilities including a boot utility. The DataTraveler Elite has a data transfer rate of up to 24 MB/sec. read; 14 MB/sec. write speed, making it one of the fastest USB devices on the market today. DataTraveler Elite has a unique combination of hardware and software-based security that gives unprecedented access control and encrypted data protection. With DataTraveler Elite's TravelerSafe+ software, users can set password access control for a private data storage area that utilizes 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) hardware-based encryption. If lost, this advanced hardware encryption system to protect the data against unauthorized access.
