Kingston's New ''Icons of Photography'' Program Offers How-To Tips from World Renowned Photographers
Douglas Kirkland, Harry Benson, Barbara Bordnick, and Colin Finlay Among the "Icons" Who Share Tips, Techniques and Experiences
at kingston.com
Fountain Valley, Ca - January 23, 2006 - Kingston® Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory
products, has developed a partnership with several of the world's most respected photographers to develop a forum on its Web site to educate and
inspire photographers everywhere – professional and enthusiast. "Icons of Photography" showcases the photography of several world-class
photographers and their tips, techniques and advice for taking better pictures.
Each month, Kingston will spotlight a new Icon who will provide interesting advice and anecdotes for taking better pictures and share how they
successfully navigate through the new and exciting world of digital imaging, storage, and workflow. Each photographer will explain his or her unique
process of preparing for and capturing their subjects as well as moving, sharing, and protecting their photographs after the shoot.
Douglas Kirkland, world-renowned for his personality-revealing celebrity portraits, will be Kingston's first Icon to be featured on the Web site. In
addition to providing viewers with valuable tips for taking – and protecting – better photographs, Doug Kirkland will display a portfolio of images
which span his illustrious, 50-year career. The Web site will also include current listings of Kirkland's upcoming workshops, lectures, and exhibits.
Other photographers participating in the "Icon of Photography" program include:
- Photography legend Harry Benson, whose images introduced the world to The Beatles and who continues to shoot for such publications as Vanity Fair,
Newsweek, TIME and People Magazine, to name a few;
- Barbara Bordnick, who received worldwide recognition for her "Great Women in Jazz" portrait series and her new book series Searchings: Secret
Landscapes of Flowers;
- Colin Finlay, world-class photojournalist whose work has been internationally recognized by World Press and Pictures of the Year;
- Chris Rainier, world-renowned documentary photographer and director of the "All Roads" photography program at National Geographic;
- Peter Read Miller, internationally-acclaimed sports photographer whose work regularly appears in Sports Illustrated and other sports publications;
and
- Gerd Ludwig, a photographer at National Geographic magazine who has taken photographs in more than 70 countries across the globe. He is a veteran
of the renowned A Day in the Life book series, has won numerous photographic awards, and frequently exhibits his work at prestigious galleries worldwide.
"Kingston is honored to be working directly with an amazing group of legendary photographers to provide our customers and anyone else who visits
Kingston's Web site with a variety of tips and techniques from individuals who truly are icons in their fields," said Wendy Lecot, flash memory
marketing manager, Kingston Technology Company Inc. "Their level of photography is much like a high-stakes poker game where every move counts.
It seems only fitting that they put their trust in a brand that has a tradition of consistently meeting the challenge. Their words of advice and
encouragement are an invaluable resource to photographers everywhere," added Lecot.
