Inc. Magazine Honors Kingston Technology Founders
Tu, Sun Accept Goldhirsh Award Named for Biz Pub Founder
Fountain Valley, CA – (January 18, 2007) – Kingston Technology Company, the independent world leader in memory products,
today announced that Kingston® co-founders John Tu and David Sun will receive the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Goldhirsh
Award to be presented Saturday evening, January 20, 2007, as part of the Inc. 500 Conference and Awards Ceremony in
San Francisco, Calif..
“David and I are honored to receive the first Distinguished Alumni Goldhirsh award from Inc. There are so many stories
of private businesses enjoying good fortune. Our twenty-year success with Kingston is living proof of the American
Dream,” said John Tu, co-founder, Kingston. “Bernie Goldhirsh had the vision to make Inc. one of the most successful
magazines ever. His entrepreneurial spirit is an example to us all,” added David Sun, co-founder, Kingston.
Named after the late Inc. magazine founder Bernard Goldhirsh, the award honors Tu and Sun for their leadership, guidance
and embodiment of the American entrepreneurial spirit — values for which Goldhirsh was known – in making Kingston
Technology one of the world’s most successful privately-held companies. Founded in 1987 with the idea of producing
an alternative computer memory product to address a huge shortage, Kingston shot up to No. 1 on the Inc. 500 list in
1992. The ranking recognized previous-year revenue of over $140 million and a workforce of 130 employees.
The Distinguished Alumni Goldhirsh Award also recognizes the continued success of Kingston under the tutelage of Tu and
Sun. Kingston revenues topped $3 billion for the first time in 2005 when Kingston employed more than 3,000 people worldwide.
Inc. magazine is one of the leading business publications dedicated exclusively to owners and managers of private companies.
This year marks the 25th year of the Inc. 500 list and the Distinguished Alumni Goldhirsh Award presentation caps Inc.’s
two-day conference.
