Kingston Technology Appoints New Vice President European Sales and Marketing
[1 July 2004] Kingston Technology, the world's largest independent memory module manufacturer,
has appointed Thomas Marschner as the new Vice President European Sales and Marketing.
Thomas joined Kingston Technology in 1996, and has been Country Manager for Germany, Austria,
Switzerland, Italy and Eastern Europe, and was responsible for building the entire business
in this region. Such was Thomas' success that sales increased dramatically from $100M in 2002
to $174M in 2003 with a forecast of revenues exceeding $230M by the end of the current financial year.
In his new role Thomas will be responsible for developing sales and marketing in over forty
countries. He recognises that Kingston Technology has long standing relationships with the
channel and partners across Europe, which he is keen to support and develop in order to
strengthen Kingston Technology's position as the market leader in the third party industry.
Marschner also recognises the digital memory market will be a key area of growth and so aims to ensure
Kingston Technology's digital memory products will become as well known as the company's highly
successful PC and Server memory. To achieve this Marschner has identified the emerging markets in
the new EU countries as one of a number of excellent opportunities.
Highly experienced in IT sales, Marschner has worked at various companies starting at HP in 1983,
where he was responsible for sales in Germany for midrange systems and the first PCs. From there
he moved in 1987 to Computer 2000 (now TechData), as regional and inside sales manager for IT
distribution.
He then spent a year at Toshiba from 1994 but was soon working at US Robotics where he was responsible
for starting the entire business in Germany building up both the distribution channel and internal
sales force. It was during this time that he was responsible for the introduction of the Palm Pilot.
Thomas Marschner commented, "I am delighted to have been given this opportunity. Having been at
Kingston Technology since 1996 I have seen and been part of the remarkable growth of the company.
I believe that we can strengthen our position as market leaders and continue to push into new
markets."
Thomas is 48 years old and is married with two boys, 14 and 17. He has a Masters degree in Economics
and Business Studies from the University of Munich, and enjoys golf, mountain biking and skiing.
He also has a passion for rock music and lists Deep Purple and the Rolling Stones as his favourite
bands.
