Frequently Asked Questions

Windows assigns new drive letters to the next available physical drive. It will sometimes take the same drive letter as a network drive for this reason. This is a common problem with removable storage devices. Please use the following procedure to resolve this problem.

  1. With the reader plugged into a USB port, right-click on “Computer” (or “My Computer”) located on your desktop or under the Start menu on the Task Bar and select “Manage”.
  2. Select Disk Management on the left window pane.
  3. Locate the reader on the right window pane.
  4. Right-click on the drive and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths” and assign it a new drive letter that is not being used by a mapped network drive.
  5. Go back to “Computer” and open it to see if the reader is assigned the drive letter you chose.

This is due to a power limitation. Though some USB devices may work fine in these USB ports, USB 2.0 High Speed devices usually require more power. In order to resolve this issue, you will need to insert the reader directly into one of the main USB ports. These USB ports are usually located in the back of the tower. If this is a notebook system, please try every USB port located on the left and right side of the notebook. If the reader still is not recognized, contact technical support for assistance.

This reader does support SDXC cards. Be aware that most SDXC cards will use the exFAT file system. Most devices that accept SDXC cards, like digital cameras, read this file system. Therefore you should make sure the operating system on your computer will support exFAT or can be updated to support exFAT.
