Job Details - SMT Process Engineer - Fountain Valley, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The SMT Engineer develops, reviews, and optimizes SMT processes to improve productivity and efficiency for new and existing products. Maintains production line functionality, performance, and process completeness. In addition to the following Essential Functions, other related tasks may be assigned.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitors SMT process effectiveness and improves efficiency by optimizing machine setup, line configurations and program.
  • Prepares process documentations
    • Conducts failure analysis, provide corrective and preventative action recommendations.
    • Trains SMT Technicians and Machine Operators.
    • Effectively communicates with internal and external clients.

GUIDELINES (ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS):

  • 2-3 years of SMT manufacturing and process experience
  • Thorough understanding of SMT lead-free process and production materials
  • Knowledge of SMT programing, solder past printing, SPI, reflow, AOI, X-ray inspection and depanelization
  • Ability to set up and optimize SMT process parameters
  • Familiar with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610, SPC ISO9001 environment
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write procedures and work instructions
  • Skilled in interpreting a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and internal/external clients
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate staff and clients in various time zones
  • Must be available for occasional domestical and international business travel

EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
