Job Details - Cost Engineer - Fountain Valley, CA

Department: Industrial Engineering

As a member of Kingston’s Industrial Engineering team, the Cost Engineer will work to ensure that manufacturing and distribution costs are captured from all facets of the business, such as freight, material, direct labor, machine rate, overhead, subcontract, shared services. Responsibility will include facilitating industrial engineering techniques and conducting engineering studies to align costs with the respective company business units. In addition to the following Essential Functions, other related work may be assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Determine total production process input for labor quotes.
  • Develop cost element structures to capture all areas of costs according to product development stages and various locations of mass production sites.
  • Analyze costs to identify risks to different Business Units.
  • Execute performance monitoring and provide analysis and insight to cross-functional teams to achieve cost targets.
  • Develop cost efficient processes in the engineering field and analyze variance in operating cost.
  • Monitor the general flow of operations and provide related cost reporting and trending data.
  • Determine best use of workforce/resources to improve and achieve maximum productivity.
  • Incorporate recommendations from cross-functional teams during plan implementation and execution.
  • Collaborate with related groups when applicable to develop and/or revise manufacturing processes, procedure, work instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Statistics or Engineering.
  • Two years of experience in cost analysis, cost estimation and cost improvement.
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing value-added (MVA) cost in Operations and standard cost in ERP system.
  • Proficiency in project management, sourcing, inventory management, budgets, return/repair processes.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with high attention to details.
  • Good problem-solving ability skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and follow through with all assignments.
  • Good understanding of continuous improvement and cost structure of operations.
  • Ability to cooperate with others in a team environment.
