Job Details - Logistics Manager - Fountain Valley, CA

Under general direction, the Logistic Manager oversees and manages logistics, import and export compliance, and relationships with partner freight forwarding and carrier organizations. Negotiates contracts and monitors performance of carriers, brokers, and third-party vendors. Coordinates and collaborates with internal partners including, manufacturing, shipping and receiving, planning and procurement, sales, finance, security, legal and IT. Manages projects, analyzes metrics and data, proactively identifies potential obstacles and solutions, to ensure a high level of customer service both internally and externally.

Essential Functions:

  • Direct, manage, and coordinate logistics, warehouse, transportation, inventory management, shipping, receiving, production support, special projects, and strategy.
  • Effective project management of supply and/or production transition as well as supporting new product introductions. Ensure that supplies and/or production are moved without disruption.
  • Collaborates closely with operations, freight forwarders, integrators, carries, brokers, ports and legal firms.
  • Advanced knowledge with logistics, freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution.
  • Manage supplier performance to meet all quality and delivery requirements, in cooperation with operating departments and quality control departments.
  • Strategically plans and manages logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer service.
  • Execute all phases of the freight brokerage cycle – needs analysis, margin analysis, defining requirements, solutioning, planning, pricing, deployment, and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee the inventory management process of daily cycle counts, full physical inventory, posting, tolerances, variances, and investigate significant variances.
  • Perform metrics reporting and data analysis tasks to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Evaluate current and potential storage conditions and maintain general housekeeping to meet corporate governance and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Builds relationships with Logistics mediators and work closely with package engineers to ensure the protection of freight in transportation.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.
  • Strong management and exceptional listening and communication skills with a proven track record in successfully leading people.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, GMP, ISO, trade compliance and all quality, safety and regulatory requirements

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES

Education/Training/Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, operations, transportation, supply chain management or related field. 7-10 years of strong experience in managing a global and/or domestic logistics model and/or managing forwarder or integrator operations. 3-5 years of leadership and management experience.

Desirable:

  • Electronics distribution background. Speak fluent Chinese is a plus.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of national and international import/export legislation and must be able to effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international freight transportation.

Skills/Abilities:

Ability to work with a high sense of urgency and strong attention to detail. Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Proficient in standard logistics software. Collaborative and works well with others. Responsively adapts to changing work priorities; communicates effectively with customers and internal departments. Self-motivated and able to work on several tasks simultaneously. Ability to adapt to applications and learn languages.

Special Requirements/Certification:

Must be able to work hours that accommodate customers and staff in various time zones. Ability to travel internationally at minimum of 40%.
