Job Details - Purchasing Specialist - Fountain Valley, CA

Department: Purchasing

The Purchasing Specialist will coordinate with Kingston cross-functional teams, Engineering, General Affairs, Production floor, Shipping/Receiving, as well as OEM Material Planners and approved vendors, to purchase goods and services. Responsibility will include issuing purchase orders for customers, verify and revise pricing, and follow up with vendors on deliveries.


In addition to the following Essential Functions, other related work may be assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage packaging inventory replenishment, provide daily report on packaging for Kingston worldwide demand.
  • Negotiate pricing with suppliers.
  • Monitor inventory levels for Kingston worldwide.
  • Receive requisitions for goods or services to be purchased.
  • Issue quarterly blanket purchase orders and authorize daily releases.
  • Process orders and investigate receiving discrepancies.
  • Work with Quality Control, users, vendors on defective goods to determine corrective action.
  • Maintain data base of purchase orders, costs, deliveries, product performance and inventories.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice/freight discrepancies.

Requirements:

  • Three to five years of Purchasing experience.
  • Knowledge of Purchasing department practices, including OEM purchasing and contract manufacturing practices, shipping/receiving and accounts payable practices.
  • Computer electronics industry experience with international buying experience is preferred.
  • Must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments, projects, functions in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be organized and detailed oriented with ability to follow through on assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Must be a team player and self-starter with ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and data base applications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent experience.
