Job Details - HyperX Test Engineer - Fountain Valley, CA

Under general supervision, provide support for the development of HyperX audio and peripheral products.

Display a technical knowledge of HyperX’s gaming product lines and their applications in gaming PCs and consoles, notebooks, tablets, cell phones, and other handheld host devices.

Identify and analyze technical problems of products and recommend corrective action to resolve issues. Perform tests to duplicate issues and thoroughly document them in test records.

Communicate and work closely with the HyperX team by providing feedback to engineering and product management. Perform other tasks with related teams as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Test and analyze HyperX products for user experience improvement.
  • Troubleshoot acoustic failures and recommend design changes. Support proof of concept, prototype and production builds. Predict acoustic system behavior and define acoustic profiling. Test procedures include replicating issues, analyzing root causes, and directing information to the relevant engineering group at headquarters and overseas.
  • Follow, improve and create test plans for various products. Use strong written skills to maintain current test procedures and create new test procedures as needed. Ensure all test records are accurately and appropriately documented. These results will be shared via email, phone, and in-person onsite/offsite meetings.
  • Participating in weekly calls with Asia branch to sync with headquarters.
  • Define, specify, and validate production test equipment and processes.
  • Possess a high degree of self-management and be disciplined enough to accomplish tasks autonomously.
  • Need to be able to communicate with management and team lead openly on issues.


  • Minimum two (2) years’ technical experience in the electronics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware and software or consumer electronics devices, as well as operating systems including Windows and MacOS.
  • Hands-on experience with headsets and gaming peripherals for any inquiries on a tech or gaming brand.
  • Experience with testing audio and gaming peripheral hardware and software in product development or technical support environment
  • Knowledge of the computer and console gaming industry
  • Experience with active noise cancellation technology is highly desirable
  • PC and console gaming knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of headphone acoustic structures and enclosure/porting design. Strong understanding of acoustic test and measurement systems and techniques.
  • Computer hardware and software, gaming and consumer audio, and PC/console gaming peripherals knowledge. A strong understanding of factors affecting computer / electronic device performance, as well as factors affecting user experience.
  • Knowledge of tech and gaming industry terms regarding computer hardware and software.
  • Ability to schedule, organize, and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal/external review, technology presentations, datasheets, technical manuals, and product FAQs
