Kingston Enables 8K Production Workflows at 2019 NAB Show

  • New, Upcoming High-Performance SSD Solutions on Display for Media, Entertainment and Broadcast Industries

DC500 Series SSDNAB Show Las Vegas, and Fountain Valley, CA – April 3, 2019 – Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, is set to demonstrate how its latest and upcoming products empower the next generation of 8K broadcast and production workflows at the 2019 NAB Show (booth #C2656). Kingston will have demonstrations highlighting the capabilities of its family of solid-state drives as well as other memory solutions.

“Consumers continue to demand higher quality from their traditional broadcast and OTT services, and Kingston is an integral part of the media ecosystem as we power the infrastructure that brings more realism and crystal-clear graphics to TVs everywhere,” said Keith Schimmenti, enterprise SSD business manager, Kingston. “We are fully committed to delivering the highest performance and most stable solutions that allow content creators to shoot, edit and produce live and on-demand content in resolutions up to 8K ― all while reducing the amount of CPU load on editing bays and production workflows.”

During the show, Kingston will demo:

  • A Digital Imaging Technician’s (DIT) production cart that is powered by a combination of Kingston Server Premier memory as well as the recently launched DC500 Series enterprise data center SSDs and forthcoming U.2 NVMe SSDs. A DITs role on set is to monitor daily footage in real time. After a production wraps for the day, the dailies are downloaded onto a DIT’s cart before going out to postproduction facilities such as color and sound processing. Kingston-powered DIT carts were deployed on a recent award-winning Netflix television show shot on the Warner Bros. lot. Kingston solid-state drives greatly improved the workflow by reducing ingest time of the daily footage followed by duplicating to other drives for postproduction services.
  • The company will also feature an 8K Video Workstation demo using “off-the-shelf” components. Real-time editing is achieved through a combination of U.2 NVMe and SATA enterprise SSDs, 128GB of server memory and an NVIDIA RTX-6000 GPU all on a Lenovo™ ThinkStation P710 workstation. Kingston’s storage and memory solutions enable consistent low-latency performance that yields zero dropped frames when editing 8K video in Adobe Premier Pro CC.
