Faster memory will clock down to run at optimal speed depending on processor model installed.

Depending on which processor you install, different memory modules are required. Intel Xeon processors can use ECC or non-ECC SODIMMs. The only limitation with Xeon processors is they can not use x16 part numbers KCPxxxS6/x. Intel Core i9/i7/i5 processors require non-ECC SODIMM.
