Why does my USB hard drive not work with the Mobilelite Wireless but my USB flash drive does?

There a few possible reasons why a hard drive would not be detected. The drive may be using a unsupported format. The hard drive must be formatted in either FAT32, exFAT or NTFS. The Mobilelite Wireless does not support MacOS or Linux formats. The partition type could be GPT. This partition type is usually used only for boot drives and cannot be read by the Mobilelite Wireless. You will need to change the partition type to MBR. You may have some type of security feature enabled on the drive. This could be some type of encryption or password protection software that came with the drive. This must be disabled.

Can the MobileLite Wireless device be used as a standard USB card reader?

Yes. When the device is plugged into a USB port on a computer, it will become a USB card reader and USB hub. If the wireless connection is on when you plug it into the USB port, you will need to turn it off before the computer will detect it.

Does the MobileLite Wireless device support USB 3.0 devices?

The MobileLite Wireless is a USB 2.0 and will be limited to USB 2.0 speeds. USB 3.0 devices may be used with the MobileLite Wireless but will function as USB 2.0 devices.

What formats or file systems will the Mobilelite Wireless device detect?

The MobileLite Wireless supports FAT, FAT32, NTFS, and exFAT file systems.

What is the maximum storage capacity that the MobileLite Wireless reader will accept?

The MobileLite Wireless reader will support up to 2TB storage devices.

Is the 3G USB dongle feature of the MLWG2 compatible with my 4G dongle?

Unfortunately, the MLW is not backwards compatible with 4G dongles. Only 3G dongles can be used for this feature.

How do I reset the MobileLite Wireless back to factory default settings?

There is a reset button next to the power button on the MobileLite Wireless. It can only be accessed by using a paper clip. With the MobileLite Wireless on, press and hold this button for about 15 seconds. You should then power it off and back on again. Note: This will not delete any data stored on USB, SD or internal storage, but it will remove any changes to the network I.D., password etc.

Can I transfer files between a USB drive and a SD card in the MobileLite Wireless device without having to first copy them to the tablet or phone?

Yes. Have both devices plugged in to the MLW and open the app. <ol class="div.faq-txtblox ol"><ol class="div.faq-txtblox ol"> <li>Select the source device.</li> </ol></ol> <ol class="div.faq-txtblox ol"> <li style="width: 438px;">On Apple devices, tap the tick at the bottom of the screen to select the files and folders that you want to transfer, or select all. My network requires that I manually input an IP address or DNS server address. Can I use Ethernet connection on the MLWG2?

No. You can only connect the MLWG2 to a network that automatically obtains IP and DNS addresses using DHCP.

Can I change the default IP address of MobileLite Wireless?

No. The default static IP address (192.168.201.254) is non-configurable.

After joining the MobileLite Wireless network, I no longer have Internet Access on my device. What could be the problem?

MobileLite Wireless is its own wireless network. Joining this network will automatically replace your existing Internet connection, be it your iPad, iPhone, or home/office WiFi network. MobileLite Wireless does offer a bridged network connection which allows you to access the Internet while continuing to stream MobileLite content. This feature basically allows you to “bridge” together two networks. To do this, connect to MobileLite Wireless network and follow these steps: <ol class="div.faq-txtblox ol"> <li>Open the MobileLite Wireless App. If you are using Android, choose your MobileLite Wireless from the device list.</li> <li>Tap the menu icon at the top right corner.</li> <li>Tap the ‘Settings’ option.</li> <li>Under ‘Network Connection’, select the network you would use to access the Internet.Note:If the selected network is protected by a password, you will need to supply it here in order for the bridging function to work.</li> <li>The MobileLite Wireless reader will then reboot. You may need to go into your Wi-Fi settings and reconnect to the MobileLite Wireless network once the reader has rebooted.</li> <li>Once you’ve connected and authenticated to the network: a) A ‘tick’ will appear next to the network that you chose to indicate that the bridging function is working properly –and- b) The bridged LED will light up blue in color.You can now stream content from the MobileLite Wireless network AND access the internet. </li> </ol> KFR-051614-MLW-06

The MobileLite Wireless is detected but I cannot view any of the contents, the connection with the MobileLite Wireless is frequently lost, or the device sometimes fails to connect. What could be the problem?

This may need to change the default Wi-Fi channel. The MobileLite Wireless defaults to channel 11.If there are already too many connections near you using this channel, it could cause the MobileLite Wireless not to connect. To resolve this: <ol class="div.faq-txtblox ol"> <li>Open the MobileLite Wireless App. If you are using Android, choose your MobileLite Wireless from the device list. </li> <li>Tap the menu icon at the top right corner. </li> <li>Tap the ‘Settings’ option.</li> <li>Under ‘MobileLite Wireless Connection’, select ‘Wireless Channel’.</li> <li>Tap on the desired ‘Wireless Channel’ and reconnect to the MobileLite Wireless after reboot.</li> </ol>

When I try to run the MobileLite Wireless app, I get an error stating "Searching for MobileLite Wireless. The MobileLite Wireless is connected properly. How do I resolve this?

First make sure there is another WiFi connection available besides the MobileLite Wireless and that you are connected to it. Then try the following: <ol class="div.faq-txtblox ol li"> <li> Reveal all running apps and close the MobileLite Wireless app. On iPad or iPhone, double-tap the Home button. Hold down on the MobileLite Wireless App until it has a minus ( - ) in the upper left corner. Pressing and releasing the minus will close the app. </li> <li> Reboot the MobileLite Wireless device and then go into network settings and make sure the MobileLite Wireless network is selected and connecting.</li> <li> Press the Home button on your device and open up the MobileLite Wireless app and see if it is detected. </li> <li> If you're still faced with the problem, the next thing to try is to go into the WiFi Settings of the device and “forget” the MobileLite Wireless network. Refer to the user guide for your device for this. </li> <li> Go back to the device’s WiFi Settings and try re-joining to the MobileLite Wireless network.</li> <li> Then try step 3 again.</li> </ol> If you are still having problems, please contact our technical support.

I only see the option to protect the MobileLite Wireless with WPA2 encryption but my home network is set up with WEP encryption, will this cause a conflict when I try to bridged the networks?

The MobileLite Wireless device has two configurations when it comes to security.The ‘Off’ state indicates that the device will not be password protected with WPA2 security, which will virtually allow anyone to connect to the device. The ‘On’ state indicates that the device will be password protected with WPA2 security and only those supplied with the password will be able to connect to the MobileLite Wireless device. The on/off state will only come into play when trying to access the contents that are available by the MobileLite Wireless device. The MobileLite Wireless device supports both WEP and WPA2 bridged connections.

When I connect my external USB hard drive to the MLW, it is not shown in the app. USB flash drives work OK. How do I resolve this?

In some cases, external USB drives will need to be connected to the MLW before it is powered on in order for the app to see the drive. Also verify that the drive is formatted in one of the following file systems: FAT, FAT32, NTFS or exFAT. Also, you will need to disable any security software enabled on the USB hard drive, such as BitLocker or the drive’s original security software.

The MobileLite Wireless reader has two Mac addresses: One for LAN and one for WAN for bridging. The MAC address listed on the back of the device is the LAN MAC address and will not be the same as the WAN MAC address.The WAN MAC address is HEX digit (0-9 and A-F) higher than what is on the back of the device.
