Intel 4th Generation Xeon Scalable Processor Platform “Eagle Stream”

The 4th and 5th Generation Intel® Scalable Processor Platform code-named “Eagle Stream” targets 1P, 2P, 4P and 8P servers. Intel’s first DDR5 server platform supports eight memory channels per processor and is built on the Intel 7 process using enhanced SuperFin technology. The 4th Gen Xeon processor (code-named Sapphire Rapids) supports up to 4800MT/s DDR5, while the follow-up 5th Gen Xeon processor (code-named Emerald Rapids) supports up to 5600MT/s. Next-gen industry-standard technologies such as PCIe 5.0 and Compute Express Link 1.1 are featured, as well as Intel’s Advanced Matrix Extensions (AMX), extending built-in AI acceleration capabilities. From edge to cloud, Eagle Stream delivers a giant leap forward in compute power for data centers.

Supports DDR5 Registered DIMMs up to 5600MT/s, equivalent to transfer rates of 44.8GB/s per module

Memory architecture

8 channels of memory

Memory architecture is based on Eight Channels arranged in Two Banks per processor. Each processor can be configured with 8 or 16 modules, depending on the motherboard layout, to achieve the maximum aggregated memory bandwidth.

  • 8 memory channels per processor
  • Up to 2 DIMMs per channel
  • Up to 16 DIMMs per processor
